Teachers Highland Cream boasts a high peated malt content, one of the highest for Blended Scotch Whisky. At its heart is the smoky malt whisky from the famous Ardmore distillery, located in Scotland’s Highlands (famous for producing some of the world’s best Single Malt Whisky). In total, more than 25 different malt whiskies are combined in its recipe. Teachers are the oldest Scotch whisky brand, registered in 1884 and continues to be shipped around the world.

The name whiskey is associated with the work deformation (Monkey Shoulder) that suffered in the past as malthouse workers. The upper body was deformed by regularly shuffling the malt with wooden shovels. It is a tribute to all these workers who have laid the foundation for the glory of Scotch whiskey. Three metal monkeys sit on the "shoulder" of the bottle.

This whiskey comes from the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. It is made using pure cave water and a unique softening process that perfected Jack Daniel in 1866.
Tennessee whiskey is similar to bourbon, but is different in that it is filtered through a 3-metre layer of maple charcoal, creating a soft, slightly smoky character with cinnamon and wood tones. It is made from 80 % corn, 12 % rye and 8 % malt.

A very special 2011 edition of the classic Johnnie Walker mix, Black Label. Johnnie Walker Double Black was originally produced for the retail travel market. It combines the rich malty taste of Black Label with a slightly more peat whiskey and barrels that burn more. The result is a pleasantly warm, smoky whiskey with the usual rich malt base of the Johnnie Walker brand, really very good.
Aroma: Gently smoky and almost healing for the nose, offers hints of vanilla, a little tar, a touch of barbecue sauce, citrus and malt.
Taste: Good consistency, very creamy with a wonderfully malty base. It offers a surprising level of peat smoke that works really well. Creamy sweetness, hints of fine wood smoke, salted butter, pudding and grains.
Conclusion: Good length with hints of malt, hard candies, black pepper and cold smoke.

It is this marriage that the Accord’s title perhaps refers to – the accord reached between the American oak Bourbon barrels and the Oloroso sherry casks.
